About
Welcome to the world of Bonci Pizza, a culinary gem nestled at 1855 W Diversey Pkwy in Chicago, Illinois. Here, pizza isn't just a meal; it's an experience. With a unique philosophy that prioritizes fresh ingredients and innovative recipes, Bonci Pizza redefines how we enjoy this beloved dish.
One of the standout features of Bonci is their ever-changing selection of pizzas, ensuring that every visit feels like a new culinary adventure. As customer Pooja Patel notes, the variety keeps her coming back for more, with standout flavors like burrata basil and lemon ricotta zucchini shining on their rotating menu. Each slice is presented by weight, allowing you to sample multiple options without the commitment of an entire pie. It’s a fascinating and liberating way to enjoy pizza!
Bonci's commitment to flavor is evident in their unique combinations. Reviewers rave about dishes like cacao e pepe and spicy eggplant, which are highlighted for their incredible taste. This is not just pizza; it’s a place where creativity meets culinary expertise. Plus, with no pork in the offerings, many find it easy to enjoy with peace of mind. Eli Cisnero emphasized the excellent service under the steely management of Omar, ensuring every dish is served warm and satisfying.
The atmosphere leans towards a casual takeout setting, but there’s also limited seating for those who wish to dine in. As reflected in Louise Sattler's review, Bonci Pizza is not only a must-visit for locals but also a destination for tourists exploring Chicago. Whether you’re diving into a slice of the popular lemon and ricotta pizza or indulging in the meatball and sausage variations, the excitement of exploring different toppings and textures is palpable.
Finally, there's a certain magic when you witness the staff hand-kneading the dough and baking it fresh throughout the day. Each slice embodies the warmth of a well-prepared meal made with love and care. As Max Rosen mentions, the balance of crispy and bready, cheesy yet light, makes each bite feel heavenly.
Bonci Pizza is more than just a place to grab a bite; it's a celebration of flavors, a hub of creativity, and a must-visit destination in Chicago. Whether you're a pizza aficionado or just looking for something extraordinary, Bonci promises to deliver a slice of happiness on every plate. Don’t miss out on the unique experience they offer—it's definitely worth every dollar!
“ Bonci, a personal favorite despite not every pizza hitting the mark for me, offers a unique pizza experience. Their ever-changing selection ensures a diverse range of options throughout the day. At the same time, the burrata basil and lemon ricotta zucchini, cacao e Pepe, and spicy eggplant are my favorites with their incredible flavors! One thing that keeps me hooked is their rotating pizza menu, ensuring a variety of choices every visit. Although some slices like the arugula burrata, margarita, and four cheese aren’t my favorite, they have many options! They've got this excellent setup where they offer up a bunch of different pizzas, then they slice them up to whatever size you're feeling and warm it up just before they serve it. It's like a pizza paradise where you can try a little bit of everything without committing to a whole pie. The ambiance leans more towards takeout, but they do offer limited seating for a dine-in experience. The service is also fantastic - they are super friendly! I'm excited to keep coming back to Bonci, exploring their ever-changing array of pizzas, and discovering new favorites. ”
“ Omar is the manager of the place, he made sure our food was well served and warm. great customer service! And the pizzas were 10/10. We were happy to learn that there’s no pork in their pizzas! Will come again to this location ”
“ BONCI PIZZA is unique with original pizza combos and worth every dollar! We tried an assortment of pizzas. It was so much fun to explore the different combinations that BONCI creates! I highly recommend the lemon and ricotta pizza. (Note- different pizzas are served daily with a few repeats of the most popular. And the price is according to weight, not per slice.) The late food critic, Anthony Bourdain, featured their Bonci Italian restaurant on his show- and raved about them as having one of the best pizza places he had ever visited. We will be back! This place is a MUST DO if you are visiting Chicago or live locally! ”
“ We have been passing by this pizza place for ever and finally stopped in. It’s unique how you buy the slice by weight and can mix and match different pizzas. My wife and I loved it and will be back. The Burratta and Basil is AMAZING ”
“ Excellent pizza served in an open space with shaded patio seating. Pizza is bready yet crispy, cheesy yet light. And tons of topping combinations to choose from. Highly recommend the meatball and sausage slices, all of which are sliced to your preference and are priced by weight. The freshness will stare you in the face as you order - employees are hand kneading the dough and baking it all day long. Service could be more friendly but you come here for the one of a kind pies. This place belongs in Chicago pizza lore, it’s that good. ”
“ Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. Classic, simple, delicious Roman style pizza. Mi piace qui!! ”
“ This retail location has finally found a long term viable option in Bonci. Great variety and quality of pizza - the burrata basil was a favorite - in a nice spot with a small outdoor dining area for a mostly to go location. Check out pictures, but there were at least 14 varieties available for our Friday evening visit. For dog lovers the space inside and out is pet friendly (with a sign on the door calling that out specifically) and a communal water bowl. Parking will be a minor challenge during dinner rush but Diversey is meter free and there is usually parking down the side street. ”
“ This place was a breath of fresh air. The ingredients were very fresh, the crust was thin and crispy and the topping were high quality and unique. We had the lemon and zucchini pizza and the spicy eggplant pizza. It reminded me of some of the slices I had in Venice. Would definitely recommend. ”
